WHO WAS KELSEY?
 
Kelsey Briggs was a vibrant two year old toddler from Meeker, Oklahoma who died as a direct result of child abuse. She had been under the watchful eyes of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services with nine months of documented abuse when she died. Injuries ranged from scrapes and bruises to a broken collar bone, retinal hemorrhaging and two broken legs. Kelsey’s father was serving in Iraq during this time and in his absence, his family continually contacted everyone they could in an effort to find help for Kelsey. Their cries for help went unanswered. Despite the evidence presented to the court, Kelsey was placed back in her mother’s home where she later died from blunt force trauma to her abdomen. Her mother and stepfather are both currently serving time in prison.
